Welcome to Audio Learning from Assemble You. 1 – The Meaning of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion In this track, you’ll improve your understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion. You’ll identify areas in which you can improve your ability to engage in these topics and work towards becoming a more accepting and thoughtful version of yourself. Learning Objectives: Learn about the meaning of equality, diversity and inclusion Learn some of the ways you can be more inclusive Aimed at: Anyone committed to understanding and being a part of a diverse and inclusive workplace. 2 – Unconscious and Implicit Bias In this track, we’ll discuss unconscious and implicit bias. We’ll learn what these terms mean, how they can make an environment discriminatory, and what we can do – and not do – to treat people equally. We’ll also cover microaggressions through the lens of racism, including what they are and some examples of them. This is a great track for open-minded people looking to be more empathetic friends and colleagues, and businesses looking to improve their retention, success levels, and diversity. Learning Objectives: Learn the various types of bias, how they can manifest in the workplace, and how to avoid them Learn the meaning of a ‘microaggression’, typical examples of one, and their impact in the workplace Aimed at: Open-minded individuals looking to be more empathetic friends and colleagues, and businesses looking to improve their retention, success levels, and ethics. 3 – Banter and Bullying In this track, we’ll discuss banter and bullying. We’ll pin down the definitions before highlighting the line between them and what it looks like to cross that line. We’ll also identify actions you should take if you are the victim of or have observed other victims of workplace bullying. According to the Trade Union Congress, nearly a third of adults have been bullied at work. But what is the difference between banter and bullying? Does it come down to intent, how well you know the individual, or whether you’re just being sensitive? And who ultimately judges this? You? Your bully? A senior employee? HR? That’s what we discuss in this recording. Learning Objectives: Learn the definitions of banter and bullying, and where the two meet and differ Learn about the size of the problem of bullying in the workplace, and how we can address it in the correct ways Aimed at: Learners who prefer audio as a medium, and who are looking to be better, friendlier and more socially aware communicators and colleagues. 4 – Cultural Awareness In this track, we’ll discuss cultural awareness, and discover how being culturally aware enables us to communicate with people more effectively, as well as to respond to and interact with the cultures of others.
